Sponsor Kermode

Frank Kermode will speak on
"The Survival of the Classics"
Wednesday evening at 8 in the
Wilson Hall Auditorium.

Mr. Kermode will be at the
University as part of the Peters
Rushton Seminars. "King Lear"
will serve as a major example in his
talk. The talk will be open to the
public.

Mr. Kermode has been Professor
of English Literature at Manchester
and Bristol Universities; he is
Professor of English at University
College, London, but is presently at
the Center for Advanced Studies,
Wesleyan University.

Mr. Kermode has edited Shakespeare
and written widely on many
aspects of English and American
literature. His books include "English
Pastoral Poetry," "The Romantic
Image," "Wallace Stevens," and
"The Sense of an Ending." Mr.
Kermode was also literary editor of
The Encounter for many years.
