The prologue.
Diuers Philosophers auncient and sage,
Their clargy and cunnynge to put in practise
Oft haue disputed by learning and language
To whome greatest honour men ought to demise
Or for what cause, hie reuerence shoulde aryse,
And amonges manye, some were there doubtlesse,
That concluded honour due vnto ryches

Some also to noble bloude, and high parayge
Affirmed honour dewly to pertayne

To bee excellent, and of moste honour.
