The Lily of the Valley.

To E. W.

This Lily of the Valley smells
Too sweet for human speech to say;
And passing beautiful those bells
That hide their faces from the day.
It is a gem, tho' small, too rare
For mortal hand to pluck, and twine
With any save an angel's hair;
And that is why 'tis placed in thine.
