Purchase Contract

The land and building were therefore sold
for $725,000, to be paid over a five-year
period, which started on September 1, 1971.
The first installment was $140,000.

The contract agrees to allow the Master and
Fellows to remain in their office in the
basement of Madison Hall until December,
1972. According to Mr. Steiner, plans are
underway for the construction of a new building
with parking space in the basement. The
buildings will be constructed in their parking
lot at the end of Mad Bowl, next to the Phi Psi
fraternity house.

According to Dick Shutts, Business Manager
for the University, tentative plans for the space
in Madison Hall include room for the business
offices' sponsored programs. In the basement
offices on the other side, the Division of
Research Accounting Control (DORAC) will
move in as soon as the Master and Fellows move
out in December, 1972.

Mr. Steiner concluded his comments saying,
"Madison Hall is both a building and an
organization which has tried to involve itself
with the University. We hope to create in the
new building a structure flexible to the needs of
the University as well as the community
surrounding it."
