Yesterday afternoon the ad hoc student committee for an open meeting of the Board of Visitors met on the steps of Old Cabell Hall and decided to bypass the Student Council and present their petition directly to President Shannon. Earlier, he had suggested they channel it through the Student Council. President Shannon was "unavailable" just before 3 p.m. when the group arrived at Pavilion VIII to present the petition but two hours later he was available and the petition was graciously accepted.
