But how stern Pedro's voice obtain,
How bend the majesty of Spain?
By peerless deeds of glory won,
And triumph o'er proud Arragon.
With war the rival nations rung,
Their Kings the gage of battle flung,
And wide proclaim'd th' eventful day
Whose issue shall decide the fray.
