NAMING OF THE NEW ARTS AND SCIENCES BUILDING BRYAN HALL

  • The following resolution was adopted:
  • RESOLVED that the new Arts and Sciences building planned for the Southwest end of the Lawn, for which planning funds have been approved for the 1988-90 biennium, shall be named Bryan Hall in honor of Mr. John Stewart Bryan, who earned two degrees at the University, the B.A. in 1893 and the M.A. in 1895. Mr. Bryan also served as a member of the Board of Visitors from 1918-1922 and as Rector from 1920-1922.
  • The University expresses grateful appreciation to the descendants of John Stewart Bryan for the gift which has helped make the construction of this important facility a reality, and is pleased to honor the Bryan name which has been identified with the University for four generations.
