On the thoughtless multitude
The second grace is shown,
Those that clamour'd for the blood
Of God's eternal Son;
Those that call'd with fury blind
“Away with Him, not fit to live,”
Soon His answer'd prayer they find
Who cried in death, “Forgive.”
