High meed of honourable toil, fair Fame,
The guide and guardian of the noble mind,
Still round the warrior's dusty temples bind

The sober solemn shade and moss-grown cell,
Where hush'd is every care, and pain beguil'd
O! may I tenant long thy hallow'd grove,
Sooth the fond foolish heart that lov'd too well,
And sing Corinna's scorn in accents wild.
