While practicing law, Mr
Gibson had the occasion to go
to Liberia where he did legal
work for that country's
government. During that time
he also was able to tour west
Africa and visit the ancient
capital of the Mali Empire,
Timbuktu.

Whether in New York,
Washington, or Timbuktu, Mr.
Gibson collects games. "I try
to learn every interesting game
that comes out. I think the
people that come up with a
game have to be extremely
bright. Every country I go to I
learn the games."

An indeed he has. The
shelves of his apartment are
littered by such games as
Chess, Black and White, and of
course Twixt

"I am perhaps the world
champion in Twixt," said Mr.
Gibson with tongue firmly in
cheek.

For the uninitiated, Twixt
is a game played with pegs and
links The object of the game is
to form a chain from one side
of the board to the other
However, your opponent can
cut your chain by making one
in front of yours.

Mr. Gibson finds Twixt
similar to Chess because long
range planning and strategy are
required to play the game well.
