[Ut Sol in Cœlis; ut Lux in sole videtur]

Ut Sol in Cœlis; ut Lux in sole videtur:
Uirtus in vultu sic habitare suo,
Spectator quicunque venit, discedit amator
Aut illum virtus, aut sua forma capit.
As Sol in heaven, as light in Sol abide:
So vertue in Clorinda doe reside,
Who comes to view her ere he goes will love,
Her vertue, or her beauty will him move.
