“GOOD BYE.”

No poesy this page can show—
It tells not “tear” nor “sigh;”
Nor sentiment nor pathos boasts—
It only says “Good bye!”
And when beyond the deep sea far,
This record meets thine eye,
Remember, 'mid thy many friends
That I too said “Good bye.”
1830.
