1345.

[Lamb without spot, who didst give up]

Behold, I send you forth as lambs, &c. —x. 3.

Lamb without spot, who didst give up
Thyself to worrying wolves a prey,
Thou art Thy suffering people's hope:
With us in our temptation stay,
Nor leave Thy church to Satan's power,
Nor let the sheeplike wolves devour.
The persecutor's rage restrain
Who tears Thy church with cruel scorn,
Baffle the furious wrath of man,
Or strangely to Thy glory turn,
Into a lamb the wolf convert,
And bless with a new meeken'd heart.
