Gil Morrice sat in silver wood,
He whistled and he sang:
‘Whar sall I get a bonny boy
My errand for to gang?’

He ca'd his foster-brither Willie:
‘Come, win ye hose and shoon,
And gae unto Lord Barnard's ha,
And bid his lady come.’
