SCENE XI.

A part of the castle destined for the prison of Siroes.
Siroes
alone.
I'm weary now of suffering, cruel Gods!
Your anger longer: what to me avail
My innocence and virtue? While the loyal
Remain depress'd, the traitor is exalted.
If thus Astræa weighs the deeds of men,
Or chance must rule, or innocence is guilt.
