[Christians, alas, like Pilate are]

What will ye . . . that I shall do unto Him? —xv. 12.

Christians, alas, like Pilate are,
Jesus in their hands they bear
And might embrace with joy,
His name upon themselves they take,
Nor know what use of Christ to make,
Or how their Friend employ.
The Saviour, Priest, and Sacrifice,
Prophet, King of earth and skies,
O let us Him receive,

86

To Him our hearts and duties pay,
To Him give thanks, and praise and pray,
And for His glory live.
