HYMN VIII. WISDOM.

I

Father of Lights, conduct my feet
Thro' Life's dark, dang'rous road;
And, O, let ev'ry step still bring
Me nearer to my God.

II

Let Heaven-ey'd Prudence be my guide,
And, when I go astray,
Recall my feet, from folly's path,
Into a better way.

91

III

Teach me thro' ev'ry various scene
To keep my end in view,
And whilst I tread life's mazy track
Let wisdom be my clue.

IV

That Wisdom which is from above
Abundantly impart;
And let it guard, and guide, and warm,
And penetrate my heart;

V

Till it shall lead me to thyself,
Fountain of Bliss and Love:
And all my darkness be dispers'd
In endless light above.
