No JP Diversity

A major fallacy in the JP is their
lack of diversity in political
opinions. While there are many
independents not in the fraternity
system, there are few moderates
and no liberals in the party.
Without them in the political
structure the candidates that they
field are not in the mainstream of
political thought at The University
While the recent opinion poll by
the Student Council left much to
be desired in its entire make-up, its
few good questions did tell a great
deal about the students here.
Making public how conservative or
how much they advocate a return
to the Old University may get them
the rushees they want next fall, but
it will lose them the election this
Spring. It reminds one of the
Goldwater Republicans in 1964 or
the dump Johnson Democrats in
1968.
