FRAGMENT.

Heavier the load, more wild the way!
And I am like the wretch aghast
Who, thrown on aged ocean grey,
Struggles—for what? to sink, at last.
Still deeper, darker, shade on shade!
If vain the strife, why strive so long?
Is there no hope? Oh, God, thine aid!
Only in thee, the weak are strong.
