Thompson Excels

David Thompson, who has
exhausted everyone's supply of
superlatives, has virtually
locked up the individual
scoring title and has helped
State to a league-leading
scoring average.

Thompson is hitting at a
26.3 clip, far ahead of fading
Tony Byers at 22.4 and Lefty's
favorite Terp, Tom McMillen.
McMillen brings a 22.2 average
into U-Hall tomorrow night.

Turkey Tom is leading the
pack in field goal accuracy,
with a .606 percentage, but he
could manage only five of 15
shots against Wake Forest
Wednesday night in a 62-60
loss.

Bobby Jones is second with
a .599 mark, followed by
omnipresent Thompson with a
.581 percentage. Wally Walker
continues to place in the top
five with a .579 accuracy.

At the foul line, there is a
four-way battle for supremacy
in free throw percentage. Bud
Martin of Clemson leads at
.847, followed by Jim "Bozo"
O'Brien with .845, Chris
Redding of Duke at .843, and
Barry Parkhill with an .842
mark.
