There was water, cool and clear,The gushing Spring the Lady knew;—
A sober Pond was sleeping near,
And tall, old trees their shadows threw
Around the green turf margin fair,—
Where you may see them any day;
The Turf, the Trees, the Pond are there,—
The Spring has oozed away.
