Film Symposium

The Arthur and Margaret
Glasgow Foundation of Washington
and Lee University will
sponsor a two part Symposium
on the Contemporary Motion
Picture on April 13-14 and April
20-21.

Persons participating in the
symposium will include Melvin
Van Peebles, leading black director;
French film maker Philippe
Labro; John Hancock from the
American Film Institute; and
Bosley Crowther, for many
years a film critic of the New
York Times and now consultant
to Columbia Pictures.

The program of April 13-14
will include an introduction to
today's film art, and an examination
of foreign theatrical film
and the independent American
film maker. The segment will
cover such topics as the American
theatrical film, the experimental
and underground film
and the documentary.
