REPORT ON THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
The President reported that the Capital Campaign is "moving right along". The present plans would see the campaign end on December 8, 1984, but gifts received up to the end of the year would count toward the campaign total. There were some suggestions made about possibly continuing the campaign until early 1985.
The President advised that a major area campaign is to be launched in New York City. He also said that the University of Virginia has won the Ford Motor Company award for the institution showing the greatest improvement in raising private gifts.
Vice President Peavey expressed appreciation to the Board for supporting the campaign so faithfully and so energetically. He also noted that the typical campaign costs are 20 cents for each dollar raised. In our campaign, the costs have remained as low as 8 cents per dollar raised. He said that the Board's funds are well spent on modest campaign expense.
