NEW VISITORS—

New members of the University Board of
Visitors gathered on the Grounds this week for an orientation
program conducted by University administrators. They also
participated in their first meeting and election of a new
Rector, Joseph H. McConnell (left) of Richmond, president of
Reynolds Metals Co. New board members are Brownie E. Polly
Jr. (second from left) of Big Stone Gap; Donald E. Santarelli
of Alexandria; J. Harvie Wilkinson III of Richmond, a law
student at the University, and Lawrence Lewis Jr. of
Richmond, At right is University President Edgar F. Shannon
Jr. The fifth new board member, Edwin K. Mattern of
Roanoke, was unable to attend the meeting.
