EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER TWO 82

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS, the Governor has executed Executive Order Number Two (82) dated January 16, 1982, which places a moratorium on the hiring of full-time salaried employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia effective January 16, 1982, to April 12, 1982; and
  • WHEREAS, the President has reported to the Board of Visitors that the moratorium will adversely affect the ability of the University through the Hospital and Blue Ridge Divisions to deliver health care services resulting in life threatening situations, and that the moratorium will also preclude the University from carrying out contractual commitments through sponsored programs, especially in research; and
  • WHEREAS, the health care and sponsored program positions are not funded by the State through General Fund appropriations;
  • NOW THEREFORE IT IS RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the President be and he is hereby directed to seek immediately authorization to exempt health care positions in the Hospital and Blue Ridge Division and sponsored program positions in the University Division from the provisions of Executive Order Number Two (82).
