CHAPTER XXVII. The poetical works of John and Charles Wesley | ||
733.
[Scourged by wicked, cruel men]
When he had scourged Jesus, he delivered, &c.
—xxvii. 26.
Scourged by wicked, cruel men,
When Thine only Son I see,
Father, shall I dare complain
Chasten'd for my sins by Thee?
Chasten'd for my good alone
To Thy gracious will I yield:
But let Jesus' blood atone,
Let me by His stripes be heal'd.
