Friday evening State
continued to coast with a 1-2
finish in the 400 individual
medley. Baric won the event
with a fantastic time of 4:09.9.
Hermes finished second. Mark
Creighton finished 11th for the
Cavs.

Corliss won his second
event when he captured the
200 free in 1:44.1. Scott
Balderston of Virginia placed
10th. Balderston also finished
10th in the 50 free.

State's Jim Schliestett
easily copped the 100 butterfly
in 51.7. Jeff Hoffacker took
the 100 backstroke in an ACC
record 53.8. Chris Mapes
outtouched Maryland's Tom
Schaeberle in the 100
breaststroke. Ettenger was
eighth.

State's 800-yard freestyle
relay of Lurwick, Baric, Corliss
and Elliott coasted to an easy
win in 7:00.8. Once again,
Virginia was fourth.

On the final day of
competition, Baric won his
third event, the 1650- yard
freestyle with a conference
record 16:17.9. On his way to
victory, Baric set a new
1000-yard record, clocking
9:49.8.
