Virginia Roars Back

With time running out, the
Cavaliers roared back. At 9:06
of the stanza, attackman Beach
hit the nets to finish the
afternoon with four goals.
Battling furiously to tie the,
game and to force it into
overtime, Virginia finally deadlocked
the contest at 9-9 when
middie Pete Eldredge blazed one
in with only 24 seconds remaining
on the clock.

Virginia quickly took control
of play in the overtime
stanza, preventing the Elis
from moving the ball out of
their defensive zone. One minute
into the period Bobby
Proutt scored what proved to
be the game-winner on a
rebound shot. Picking up his
second goal of the contest and
his sixth point 24 seconds
later, Duquette clinched the

victory for the Cavaliers. The
game was called by mutual
agreement moments later when
a Yale player was injured
attempting to stop a
point-blank shot.
