CHAPTER XXVI. The poetical works of John and Charles Wesley | ||

He went out, and wept bitterly.
—xxvi. 75.
See, the sad fruit of sin appears,
While Peter weeps a briny flood!

The sea of tears which Peter sheds
Can never purge his crimson sin,
But Jesus for the sinner pleads,
And pours His blood to make him clean.
