445. LYNCHBURG COMMON COUNCIL LEDGER
2 items, 1787-1838, microfilm
(M-567)
The ledger of the Proceedings of the Trustees of the Town of
Lynchburg and the ledger of the Proceedings of
the Mayor, Aldermen, and Common Council of the
Corporation of Lynchburg. A few entries concern
slavery, such as the amount of revenue in 1837
attributable to slaves and a series of entries in the Common Council
proceedings in 1827-28 about a
slave named Joe who was apparently purchased by the corporation and
eventually sold to a New Orleans merchant.
