Baric Outstanding Performer

Baric was easily the
outstanding performer of the
meet, winning three events and
swimming on a victorious
relay. He qualified for the
NCAA meet in three events.

As well as he swam, Baric's
feats were rivaled by many of
his teammates. In the 200
individual medley, 'Pack
swimmers finished 1-2-3. Tony
Corliss outtouched Richard
Hermes in an ACC record time
of 1:57.2.

Sprint star Chuck Raburn, a
freshman, won the 50 free in
21.2 and former champion
Mark Elliott was second. The
ultimate State dominance
occurred in diving, when the
'Pack's four divers swept the
event. To top off the near
perfect day, State's medley
relay won easily, with the
Cavalier quartet of Gerry
Rollins, Jeff McKeever, Al
Ettenger and Frans DeJong
fourth.
