Personal, legal, military, and business correspondence and accounts of this family of Essex County. A number of letters and documents refer to individual slaves and slavery in general, including a December 10, 1772, letter from Samuel Peachey to William Latane asking that a young male slave be sent to him to learn the blacksmith trade; a 1794 circular referring to the transportation of slaves from Africa to the West Indies; and several slave inventories and bills of sale.
