A MINOR CANON.
“New phrases daily on our ears are prest,”A pert young Canon thus the Dean addrest;
“Word-studying, Sir, I know is your profession—
‘Son of a gun!’—what means that strange expression?”
“Son of a gun! why surely that must mean
A minor Canon,” said the quiet Dean.
