ANACREONTIC.
Half o'ercome with ruby wine,I wove a garland of the vine,
And on my front the verdure bound:
With Bacchus' emblem being crown'd,
Enraptur'd Venus' dimpled boy
Quaff'd off the bright nectarean joy,
And mingled with his rose-twin'd brow
The crooked Bacchanalian bough;
Since which, they both so well agree,
He loves Love best who drinks like me.
