Joaquin Miller's Poems
OLIVE
Dove-borne symbol, olive bough;
Dove-hued sign from God to men,
As if still the dove and thou
Kept companionship as then.
Dove-hued, holy branch of peace,
Antique, all-enduring tree;
Deluge and the floods surcease—
Deluge and Gethsemane.
