VPP's Endorsed

Dear Sir:

We the undersigned members of
the First-Year Council endorse Phil
Chabot and Andy Potler for the
vacant Student Council seats. Our
reasons for this endorsement follow:

Phil Chabot has been working
with the First-Year Council from
the beginning of this year. He called
the first meeting and helped in the
elections of our officers. He has
been present at our meetings to act
as a liaison to the Student Council
and has been available to our Council's
officers to answer questions
many times. We do not endorse him
only because he is part of our
Council, but our endorsement is
given for his qualifications which
we feel are important to this University.

Andy Potler has the respect of
many First-year students acting as a
floor counselor. Though we as
council members do not come into
close contact with Andy personally,
we support the platform on which
he is running.

The Virginia Progressive Party
has taken the initiative to express to
the students of the University their
platform while the opposing Jefferson
Party has neither printed nor
voiced its platform in any way to
our knowledge.

However, let us say that this
endorsement is not being made by
the First-Year Council as a body,
but only the signed members below
are making this endorsement. Some
representatives could not be
reached and some are of different
opinions.

But we the undersigned endorse
Phil Chabot, Andy Potler, and the
platform of the VPP, and would
like this endorsement made known
to the public of the University.
Also we were not influenced by
anything except the candidates and
the VPP platform i general. No
political campaigning was done during
our meetings.

Sincerely yours,

Charles S. Musson
President, First-Year Council

The preceding letter was signed
by 28 other students, all members
of the First-Year Council.
