[Whate'er we can of Jesus know]

Whate'er we can of Jesus know,
His followers, here comprised we see,
His life of pain and grief below,
His bleeding passion on the tree,
His sacrifice our souls to save,
His rise and triumph o'er the grave.
We now who Jesus' Spirit breathe
The ills of life with patience bear,
With joy receive the stroke of death,
With faith expect His rise to share,

His victory o'er the gaping tomb,
And live His endless life to come.
