[The proud mistake a dream for grace]
They were troubled, saying, It is a spirit, &c.

The proud mistake a dream for grace,
A phantom for true godliness;
The humble see their Lord appear,
And start, as from illusion near,
Till Christ, in answer to their cry
Assures their fluttering hearts, 'Tis I!
