For, 'tis not that course which hath practis'd bin,
Our putting this man out, and that man in;
Our punishing, of some for miss-conceiving
Their duties; nor, our giving, or forgiving,
According as our ends, it may effect,
Or, as we favour, or, else dis-respect;
Nor our Prudentials, though they did excell
The plots and counsels of Achitophel,
That will procure our safety; or, succeed
Much better, at this present, than his did.
