Second Game

Again in the tailend of the
doubleheader, the Blue Devils
started off quickly. With one away,

Teer walked and Davis hit a fly
ball to center which Bryant misjudged
and fell trying to reach.
The ball flew over his head and
both men came home with the
first two runs of the game.

In the bottom of the first, DeBoe
reached second on a single
and an error. Two more singles
by Schultz and Bryant brought
DeBoe home and left men on first
and second. After loading the bases
with a walk to Hall, pitcher Phil
Wilhelm settled down and retired
the next eleven men to face him.

In the top of the third, Stan
Owens couldn't find the plate
and quickly loaded the bases with
three walks. Owens was then replaced
by Brad Jordan following
a single by Warren, which brought
home the third run for the Durham
Devils.

Jordan put down the next two
men to end the inning but Blanchard
came in on an infield out.

A walk and a triple by Davis
brought in another run, in the
fourth, and the final run of the
game came in the top of the fifth
on an infield hit by Wilhelm.
