276.
[Nothing of softness or excess]
What went ye out for to see? A man, &c.
—xi. 8.
Nothing of softness or excess
Should in a preacher's life appear,
Nothing of ornament or dress
Becomes a gospel-messenger:
His life should as his doctrine be,
And simply plain his mission show,
That all the man of God may see
Dead to the world and all below.
