To Fabianus.
Thou beyng honest, pure, and poore,true bothe in tonge, and harte:
Why doest thou trudge in towne to dwell,
and from the countrie starte?
Thou canst not plaie the brokyng baude,
nor yet the reueller:
Thou canst not cite for to appeare
the guilty trespasser.
Thou canst not boast and brag it out,
thou canst do none of these:
Canus, and graundfyre Glaphyrus,
thou canst not praise and please.
