And this is no delusive dream;
For the unwise Nebraska scheme
Will prove a fruitful source of woe,
As time undoubtedly will show.
And all this evil in the nation
For Slavery's sole accommodation!
That Freedom's banner long may wave
O'er the dejected, haggard slave!
That tyrants may be rendered strong
To shun the right and do the wrong!
In short, that they may ever stand
As lords and nabobs of the land!
