Only Navy Unbeaten

The Naval Academy remains as
the only undefeated team in the
country after Saturday's games.
Edging Carling Lacrosse Club in
their season debut, the Middles
successively whipped Harvard 9-7,
Mr. Washington 6-4, Princeton 9-3,
and Maryland 6-3 before 14,000
people in College Park two weeks
ago. They were a unanimous
choice, collecting all fifty votes.

Hopkins ranked second after
this weekend's 9-8 upset over
Army. Tied 8-8 with five seconds to
go in the game, the Blue Jays won
it with a goal by Doug Honig to
remain in the running for the
national title. They now stand 6-1
for the year.

Maryland was able to stay in
contention with a win over North
Carolina, 10-8, Monday afternoon,
boosting their record to 5-2. The
Terps, coached by former Virginia
coach Buddy Beardmore, will come
to Charlottesville May 9 to decide
the ACC championship, and this
game could well decide the Cavaliers'
chances for a share in the
national crown as well.
