[The God of love, He oft delays]

And when He was come into the house, &c. —ix. 28.

The God of love, He oft delays,
Nor grants what we require,
To exercise our patient grace,
To heighten our desire,
To draw the clamorous beggar near,
Before His feet to cast,
And prove their confidence sincere,
And give them sight at last.
