Obnoxious Men

Dear Sir:

Concerning the letter written by
"Newman J. Paz" (?!), in the
November 4 C.D., we would like to
make a few clarifications. With the
ratio being what it is, UVa girls are
under constant scrutiny and
criticism-is there a solution? We
cannot please all the UVa
"gentlemen."

The first week of school, most
of the first year men who came to
visit were decidedly
obnoxious-perhaps they ruined it
for the rest of the first year men?

We were not placed here for
male disposal, to be gawked at or
pawed over. We are derided as
"bitches" or "liberationists" or just
"unfriendly" by some if we
exercises the least bit of feminine
reserve in response to all
approaches, gracious or otherwise,
by UVa men.

If there is indeed a solution to
this tangle of misunderstanding and
derogation, we feel that it will
come from a more gentile attitude
on the part of all UVa students;
that is, a greater feeling of respect
and understanding that will lead to
harmony among the gentlemen and
the ladies.

Love and peace, please?
