STATEMENT BY THE RECTOR
The Rector observed that there has been increasing concern about admissions. He noted that the University is much sought after by both Virginia and out-of-State students, that competition for admission is very keen, and that many sons and daughters of alumni have been refused admission. Though the Board works toward keeping the University a strong national institution, we must keep before us the obligation that we have as a state University to provide educational opportunity for citizens of the Commonwealth.
