Blind to our own through selfish love,
Another's sin we plainly see,
Another's sin with haste reprove,
But spare our own infirmity;
By nature and the serpent taught,
Our grossest evils we disguise,
But aggravate our neighbour's fault;
And malice gives us piercing eyes.
