EPIGRAM CCLXXXII.
[“True-blue,” 'tis said, “will never stain;”—]
ESTO PERPETUA.
“True-blue,” 'tis said, “will never stain;”—
An everlasting die in grain,
Which none enough can prize:
Agreed!—But while experience finds
So many men, so many minds,
One constant doubt must rise:
An everlasting die in grain,
Which none enough can prize:
Agreed!—But while experience finds
So many men, so many minds,
One constant doubt must rise:
Since each adapts to his own view,
His own idea of True-blue,
The question shifts it's ground:
The doubt is not, as I opine,
How bright, how long, True-blue may shine:—
But where it may be found!
His own idea of True-blue,
The question shifts it's ground:
The doubt is not, as I opine,
How bright, how long, True-blue may shine:—
But where it may be found!
