Letters between Asa
Hillyer of Connecticut and his sons. Most
of the correspondence is with his son Shaler of
Poplar Grove, Georgia. The social comment
mainly concerns Georgia. Included are a slave bill
of sale; a "Cotton Book" listing the number of pounds picked by each hand;
and a list of slaves "Freed by Abe Lincoln's
Proclamation."
